Is Dual Disc the next BIG THING?
Bruce Springsteen and the Dave Matthews Band will release their new albums in Dual Disc format. Will this medium become the next trend in music? To be honest, I do not really mind. I am just excited that the Boss and the DMB have new music that is coming out in the next few months.
Bruce’s new album, ‘Devils & Dust’ (Colu-mbia Records) will be released exclusively in DualDisc format on April 26 in the US, with the full album on CD on one side of the disc and DVD content on the other side. The DVD side will feature the first live perform- ances of ‘Devils & Dust’ material. Film- maker/photographer Danny Clinch captured new, acoustic rendi- tions of “Devils & Dust,” “Long Time Comin’,” “Reno,” All I’m Thinkin’ About,” and “Matamoras Banks,” each with Springsteen’s extensive, personal introductions. The performances were filmed in New Jersey in February 2005. The DVD side will also contain the entire album mixed in 5.1 channel surround sound and in stereo.
DMB’s new studio album, Stand Up will be released on Tuesday, May 10th. Stand Up will be offered as a CD, CD/DVD dual disc* and as a digital download. Preorder Stand Up in the DMB store and you will receive a special live CD featuring 3 B-sides from Stand Up and 2 songs pulled from the soundboard tapes of the 2004 DMB summer tour. There is also a site, setup by the band, dedicated to their album, containing making-of videos and other interesting stuff.
