The funny thing? If you look up “nucular” on wordnik, you’ll get these examples:

Folksy Sarah Palin with her gonnas and shouldas and nucular is a scary prospect for the English language. — Shuck and Jive

America will burn, she has too, and every major city in the uintied states will eventually be a nucular waste land. — Alex Jones’ Prison Planet.com

He mocked Palin for mispronouncing nuclear ( “nucular,” she pronounced it, which is better than Jimmy Carter’s “nuk-e-yer”). — WORLDMag.com

(or “nucular,” if you’re a Texan president) to put an end to these time-wastin ‘filibusters, and we Americans could have seen some progress made on important issues, such as ending this senseless war in Iraq or providing health care to the 40 million or so Americans who, unlike members of Congress, can’t afford it. — AugustaChronicle.com: Top News and Blogs

Bush & the pope (not a joke)

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

As the media buzz over the Bush-meets-the-pope event, I can’t help thinking that Jefferson must be turning in his grave. The pope, the bishop of Rome, who condemns abortion, stem-cel research, and the use of condoms – but refuses to meet representatives of the people molested as children by his delegates, was given a 21-gun salute courtesy of the United States Government. This kowtowing of the White House is a direct violation of the Establishment Clause.

But I’m European, what do I know. As a European, I am disgusted that the executive and representative of the mightiest western nation has chosen to validate, and promote, this man, and his church. Disgusted, but not surprised.

Cui bono?
