Daniel Dennett on Blasphemy

And we outside Islam must make it crystal clear that we cannot respect or honor a religion that would consider blasphemy a capital crime, no matter how ancient the tradition from which this decision flowed.

Dinesh D’Souza Debates Daniel Dennett

This isn’t really news, but I thought it’s worth a mention: For those who have missed it, here’s the debate between Dinesh D’Souza and Daniel Dennett. I’d heard the name of Mr. D’Souza, but I hadn’t heard him talk before. The man is extremely loud! He’s also a fanatic with a rather crooked understanding - if any at all - of science, history, and philosophy.

Boris Akunin

Boris Akunin. After listening to it for so many years, I have to admit I’m a BBC Radio fan. What does this have to do with Boris Akunin? Well, BBC Worldservice is where I first heard of him. I recently listened to him being interviewed on the radio, and he caught my attention. He spoke up for decency, individualism, freedom of speech, writers as entertainers. He is against communism and soviet-nostalgia. Now, I haven’t read a word he’s written - yet - but I will.
